To the Bonneau Family;
Please accept my heartfelt condolences on the death of James.
I did not know James personally. But, as a former JPD police officer and someone who has a son in the same professsion, I feel a personal kinship with you. May God hold you close during this time of your sorrow. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

I went to high school with Jim, but didn't know him then. In college, during summer, a small group of us would get together every now and again to play roller hockey. Jim would play goalie -- he was great, but he was an even better person. I am so sorry to hear about this tragedy.

The most amazing thing to me is to see how the law enforcement community comes together to support one of its own. I drove through downtown Jackson this morning and the tears began to flow as I approached the police station. The sight of red and blue lights glowing through the fog was a sight that will never be forgotten. God Bless Officer Bonneau, his family, colleagues and friends. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you during this difficult time. I say thank you to the men and women out there that protect and serve our communities. Rest in peace and God bless...

Dear Bonneau Family and Rachael,
I was so sadden to hear about James, my heart goes out to your family during this difficult time.
James was my student assistant at Canton High School in 2002. He was a wonderful and kind-hearted young man that was always talking about his family and his dream of being a police officier. He was so nice and always on task beyond his years. His smile that would light up any room.
After graduation - he would stop by Canton to visit and just say hello, that was the kind of young man he was.
My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.
God Bless, Brenda Smith & family

Dear Amy, Marc, Emily and Peter,
I am so very sorry to hear that your wonderful son and brother, Jim, died in the line-of-duty. What a horrible tragedy for you to have to endure. He truly was a hero. My son, Rich, sent me the link to the Observer article about Jim, which I just viewed. I am sorry that I was not able to attend the visitation or funeral to pay my repects to you in person. I will always think of your children as the adorable little ones that I enjoyed watching play and grow up over the backyard fence. If only we could hold on to our children like that forever. I pray that you will find comfort and God's Grace in your grief. If there is anything I can do, please let me know. With love, prayers and hugs, Susie Kuchera

The loss of your son James falls hard on our hearts. He served with our son Paul and we can only imagine how difficult it was to receive that phone call... We pray for you and thank you for giving the world such a wonderful son. May you find the peace and joy of God in this terrible tragedy.

On behalf of the City of Hartford Police Department we wish to extend our condolensences to the family of this fine young man. There is no greater loss than a family member, and a family member that is a police officer. In my 30+ years (13 in Jackson County) in Law Enforcement it still hits just as hard when I read of such a tragic incident. Please know that our thoughts and prayers are with you all at this time of sorrow.

Dear Family: We so appreciate the job Officer Bonneau did. We believe our lives were saved recently when the Inkster P.D. discovered a neighbor's illegal hook up to the gas meter. We've always respected law enforcement, and we're very, very sorry your son/brother/loved one/friend was called home in such a manner. Don't ever forget your loved one is a true hero.
Isaiah 58:9 tells us to "cry out" to God and He will answer, Here am I. God bless you all and may God comfort you for the rest of your earthly lives. Sincerely, Delena & Nabil
